The thesis presents a groundbreaking approach to dynamic distributed feedback (DFB) lasers by utilizing a reflection pumping configuration, diverging from the conventional transmission method. It explores the creation of a one-dimensional DFB photonic crystal through transient interference patterns in dye-doped media, revealing index modulation. The study highlights the effectiveness of polarization modulation in facilitating DFB lasing oscillation and introduces a tunable chiral photonic DFB structure that enables circularly-polarized laser output under specific polarization schemes.

Focusing on the use of networked autonomous agents, this book explores the application of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) in complex tasks across various fields, including space-based applications, smart grids, and machine learning. It highlights how local interactions among agents contribute to achieving overarching system goals. The text also reflects on the significant advancements in MAS technology over the past two decades, particularly in the realm of automatic control.

„Ich male gerne schlechten Geschmack.“ Die Arbeiten von Chen Fei (geb. 1983 in Shanxi, China, lebt und arbeitet in Peking) gehen in eine neue Richtung der zeitgenössischen chinesischen Kunst, die sich erheblich von den Themen und der Ästhetik der Avantgarde-Generation der 1980er und 1990er Jahre unterscheidet. Seine Bilder sind unbewusst von zahlreichen Filmen beeinflusst, die er seit seiner Kindheit gesehen hat – vom Meisterwerk über den Kultfilm bis zum B-Movie. So begann er ein Studium an der Beijing Film Academy und malte 202 Bösewichte mit ihren Kostümen und Requisiten aus 197 Filmen. Von „Clockwork Orange“ bis „Ichi the Killer“, von „Shining“ bis „Kill Bill“, von „Hard Candy“ bis „Chucky und seine Braut“. Der gleiche schwarze Humor findet sich auch in Chen Feis neueren Gemälden wieder. Unter seinem Pinsel werden Szenen über die menschliche Anatomie oder den Tod zu harmlosen Witzen. Was ihn wirklich beeindruckt, sind die Schurken, nicht die anständigen Leute, sagt Chen Fei. Das sei in der Malerei das Gleiche, Schönheit und Gesundheit langweilten ihn nur.
