NEWMAN, Komponist, Bildender Künstler, Performer und Dichter hat einen Gedichtband vorgelegt: „Die 16 Gedichte, die dieses Buch enthält, geschrieben im Oktober November Dezember Januar & Februar (2017 2018), bestehen alle aus gereimten Couplets, Zeilen-Paaren, die aber unterschiedlich lang sind. In der zweiten der beiden Couplet-Zeilen wird die Bedeutung oft durch das Reim-Wort bestimmt, was das Ganze von der konventionellen Bedeutung ablenkt. Diese Couplets sind fortlaufende Situationen von Selbstkomposition, die gewöhnlich aus nicht-assoziierten Ereignissen bestehen, sich aber mit Inseln gereimten Denkens zu einem bestimmten Thema befassen.“

    • Chris Newman hat für die CARTE BLANCHE ein Experiment gewagt und mit dem Pinsel Bilder mit Acryl auf Papier gemalt. Sowohl der Vorgang des Malens auf Papier statt auf Leinwand als auch das für Newmans Verhältnisse winzige Format haben „Gemälde“ entstehen lassen, die sowohl intim als auch monumental sind.

    • These 7 essays, written from March 2008 to October 20010, deal with the work of Joseph Beuys, Beethoven, Bruce Nauman, Glenn Miller & Morton Feldman, Misha Ullman, Oswald Newman (my father), Wandelweiser, & the concept of conceptualism. The essays are an attempt to move through the existentiality of art making trans-media comparisons to get to the essence of its real reality. I use the artists & the art-situations they created to joint my thoughts onto, thus creating a kind of hinged dialogue with these souls (24/4/14)

Newman’s work from 1980-94, music, poetry, painting & video, the 4 central chapters drawing examples of work in these various mediums together according to their method of making, with many „illustrations“ & sections of writing by the artist which have been treated by the technique in question. The two outer chapters, more „scholarly“ in nature, are by Christopher Sweet (painting) & Daniel Charles (music). The book is presented in 3 languages.
