This volume, based on an international symposium sponsored by the European Society for Dermatological Research, explores the relationship between metabolic disorders, together with their genetic background, and skin disorders, and investigates the effects of dietary products on skin conditions. A major part of the book is devoted to improved chemical or genetic understanding of the porphyrias. Among other subjects, many unsolved problems in clinical dermatology are presented with approaches to their solution, including the role of foodstuffs or their additives in eliciting contact urticaria, atopic dermatitis or systemic contact dermatitis.
