Focusing on Schubert's later works, this study examines selected songs composed between 1822 and his death in 1828, reflecting his awareness of mortality due to his syphilis diagnosis. The songs showcase a unique late style, rich in elegiac themes and innovative variation techniques. Additionally, the study highlights six poets whose texts were integral to Schubert's compositions, providing insight into the literary influences that shaped his music during this poignant period of his life.
