Objectivity and attention to detail distinguish the architecture of Paul Baumgarten (1900 1984). Daring proportions, a quality of lightness and the perfect match of structure and materials characterize his work. The Federal Supreme Court of Germany, subject of this monograph, was specifically conceived by Paul Baumgarten as the architectural expression of a modern legal practice and jurisprudence. Duotone photographs by Florian Profitlich capture what is now a protected historical monument, and original, previously unpublished plans provide documentation of the buildings guiding architectural concept.
