In his role as a budget consultant in the Brandenburg Ministry of Finance, he gained firsthand insights into the administrative landscape. His notes from this period reveal a journey filled with idealism, emotional conflict, and a near loss of national identity, culminating in a return to his familiar surroundings marked by a mix of relief and melancholy. The text features poignant, almost expressionistic descriptions of the environment alongside humorous, candid portrayals of individuals. With a blend of ironic distance and passionate engagement, Wobern presents a collage of snapshots from administrative life that create a vivid and original picture.
