Smart graphics

Viac o knihe

The International Symposium on Smart Graphics 2003 took place from July 2–4 in Heidelberg, Germany, marking the fourth event in a series that began in 1999 as an AAAI Spring Symposium. Following the success of the inaugural event, organizers established it as a standalone symposium in 2000, with the first two held at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center in New York. The 2003 symposium, supported by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, was hosted at the European Media Lab in Heidelberg, emphasizing the international nature of the Smart Graphics community. The symposium aims to unite researchers and practitioners from computer graphics, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, and fine arts. Each discipline plays a vital role in the concept of “Smart Graphics,” which involves the intelligent creation of expressive and aesthetic graphical presentations. While artists and designers have long created communicative graphics, artificial intelligence seeks to automate this process through technology. Computer graphics provides the necessary tools, while cognitive sciences offer insights into perception, essential for effective design. The interaction among these fields fosters dynamic discussions, with the symposium thriving on open-mindedness and a collaborative spirit.
