Economic determinants of private equity investments in Switzerland

The author analyses and explains major economic determinants that influence the status quo of private-equity investments in Switzerland. In the process of an international comparison, special emphasis is placed on: the structure of the financial system, the ability of private equity financiers to add value to their portfolio companies, and the entrepreneurial culture. In addition, a survey of 280 Swiss medical technology companies has been conducted to analyse the attitudes of local entrepreneurs towards private-equity financing.
