This volume presents the proceedings from the latest IFLA Newspapers Section events held in Santiago de Chile (May 2007) and Durban (August 2007). The Santiago International Newspaper Conference, the first of its kind, focused on assessing Latin American newspaper collections and exploring current activities ranging from basic practices to advanced digitization and software technologies. Most presentations are available in both Spanish and English. The publication emphasizes key issues in newspaper librarianship—preservation and access—where digitization plays a crucial role. It highlights recent developments and the ongoing challenges faced in the field, aiming to make the insights accessible to the broader library community.
