The structure was built by the citizens of Rhens, according to the plan of Emperor Charles IV (1346-1378) that all future kings of the Holy Roman Empire would be elected and publically presented at the site. German description: Mit dem Konigsstuhl besitzt die mittelrheinische Stadt Rhens ein erstrangiges Denkmal der deutschen Verfassungsgeschichte. Auf demnach 1376 durch die Rhenser Burger errichteten Bauwerk sollten nach Planung Kaiser Karls IV. (1346-1378) alle zukunftigen romischdeutschenKonige gewahlt und der Offentlichkeit prasentiert werden.
