InviroInfo - from science to society: the bridge provided by environmental informatics

This volume presents the outcomes of the 31st international conference on environmental information and communication technologies, EnviroInfo 2017, organized by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) under the patronage of the Technical Committee on Environmental Informatics of the German Informatics Society. The conference's theme, “From Science to Society: The Bridge provided by Environmental Informatics,” emphasizes the discipline's mission to uncover innovative technical solutions for today's pressing environmental challenges. Held in Luxembourg, a country exemplifying many of these issues, the event highlighted the importance of collaboration with neighboring countries to address environmental problems. Key topics included the interoperability of environmental information systems, energy informatics, the use of satellite data and GNSS, environmental management information systems, sustainable mobility, green software engineering, and environmental health informatics. This volume features short and work-in-progress papers detailing ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at tackling these environmental challenges in the future.
