Focusing on the acquisition of motion event descriptions, the author analyzes how Anglophone Spanish learners navigate the differences between English and Spanish verbal patterns. The study reveals a gradual, nonlinear process as learners shift from their first-language preferences to the lexicalization patterns of Spanish, primarily through exposure rather than explicit instruction. This interdisciplinary work is relevant for researchers in Hispanic linguistics, cognitive semantics, and language education, offering insights into the complexities of language learning.
