The thesis explores the innovative applications of flexizymes, a type of aminoacylation ribozyme with distinctive features such as the ability to recognize substrate RNA through adaptable base pairings. It highlights their versatility in utilizing both canonical and noncanonical amino acids for RNA labeling and the discovery of novel interactions within microRNA precursors. Additionally, flexizymes facilitate the engineering of translation machinery by preparing mutated aminoacyl-tRNAs, contributing to advancements in orthogonal translation systems.
