A conceptual framework for devising adaptive user interfaces to improve the usability of mobile ERP

Mobile ERP extends traditional ERP systems, presenting usability challenges that may affect its sustainability, particularly due to the mobile context. This research focuses on enhancing the usability of mobile ERP applications by tackling these challenges. Five studies were conducted to conceptualize the usability issues of mobile ERP apps by: 1. Identifying usability challenges in mobile HCI and ERP systems. 2. Examining usability challenges in mobile ERP apps within real business practices. 3. Finding a usability evaluation method suitable for mobile ERP apps. The research leverages Adaptive User Interfaces (AUIs) to address these challenges. A computational framework was developed to create AUIs for mobile ERP apps, outlining key components: 1. Adapted constituents for exploitation. 2. Information relevant to adaptation processes. 3. Methods and techniques for adaptation in mobile ERP apps. 4. An adaptive system architecture to manage these adaptation processes. This study aims to offer a conceptual framework that integrates the identified usability challenges of mobile ERP apps with the computational framework for developing AUIs, ultimately enhancing the user experience in mobile ERP environments.
