Influence of heat input model parameters on the simulated properties in ferritic steel weldments

Viac o knihe

This study systematically investigates the impact of heat input model parameters, specifically arc efficiency and heat source shape parameters, on the welding temperature field, residual stress, and deformation using Goldak’s double-ellipsoid heat source. Key findings include: - The size of the fusion zone (FZ) varies with heat input model parameters due to its association with the distribution and magnitude of heat flux in simulations. - The position of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) boundary and cooling rate (Δt8/5 time) are significantly influenced by arc efficiency and, to a lesser extent, by heat source width and depth, as these factors affect net heat input and heat flux distribution. - Arc efficiency is vital for accurately computing the welding temperature field, particularly the HAZ boundary position and Δt8/5 time, as it influences heat flux and net heat input magnitudes. - A suggested adjustment procedure involves first determining a reasonable arc efficiency based on the measured HAZ boundary, then adjusting heat source shape parameters to match FZ size, and finally comparing predicted Δt8/5 time and phase fractions with experimental results. - Heat input model parameters have minimal impact on the distribution shape and magnitude of longitudinal residual stress, with arc efficiency primarily determining the width of longitudinal tensile residual stress distribution. - Transverse residual stress distribution shape r
