The Margravial Opera House is the largest remaining Baroque court theatre. As a unique monument of music and festival culture it was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2012. The driving force behind the spectacular building was the opera enthusiast Margravine Wilhelmine of Bayreuth, who succeeded in engaging the leading theatre architects of the day, Giuseppe and Carlo Galli Bibiena, for this exceptional project.
