Jazz has musical roots closely tied to Christian religious practice, leading musicians to integrate spiritual aspects and personal faith experiences into their work. Recently, churches have emerged as new venues for jazz in this country. This collection of contributions aims to explore the unique characteristics of this musical practice and analyze the mutual inspiration between jazz and church. It examines how church interiors influence the sound of jazz and what theological insights can be derived from a musical practice that emphasizes improvisation, interaction, and performance. Additionally, it poses questions about what worship can learn from the essence of jazz.
