The report attempts to illustrate how the issues of globalization, employment and human resources development in the hotel, catering and tourism setor are linked to the strategic objectives of the ILO and to its overall conceptual framework of decent work. This book addressed the following topics: general developments in the hotel, catering and tourism sector; the driving forces of globalization impacting upon travel, hospitality and tourism; company consolidation strategies; the impact of technology on SMEs; employment and working conditions; human resource development including forms of work organization and training; and social dialogue.
