The PaCT-2003 conference took place in Nizhni Novgorod from September 15–19, 2003, marking the 7th international event in the PaCT series, which is held in Russia every odd year. Previous conferences were hosted in various cities, including Novosibirsk, Obninsk, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, and Pushkin. The proceedings from these conferences are published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS series. PaCT-2003 was organized by the Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the State University of Nizhni Novgorod. Its aim was to unite scientists focused on theory, architectures, software, hardware, and large-scale problem solutions in parallel computing. The event attracted around 100 participants from 23 countries, with 78 papers submitted; 38 were selected for presentation, alongside 4 invited papers and several posters. Each submission underwent international review by at least three referees. A demo session was also held for attendees. The organizers expressed gratitude to sponsors, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Fund for Basic Research, the Russian State Committee of Higher Education, IBM, and Intel, as well as the Association Antenne-Provence for their support.
