Viac o knihe

John Connolly captivates readers with spellbinding suspense as Charlie Parker races to unravel a brutal crime in the Deep South. After enduring profound pain and guilt from the murders of his wife and daughter, private detective Charlie Parker has found some peace while awaiting the birth of his first child with his lover, Rachel, in a rural Maine farmhouse. However, tranquility shatters when he receives a call from Elliot Norton, an old friend from his NYPD days, now a lawyer in Charleston. Elliot is defending a young black man accused of raping and killing his white girlfriend, the daughter of a powerful Southern millionaire. Reluctantly, Parker agrees to help, plunging into a nightmare filled with the haunting presence of a hooded woman and a mysterious black car. What begins as an investigation into a young woman's death spirals into a harrowing abyss, where dark forces threaten everything Parker holds dear. Connolly, hailed as a "master storyteller," delivers a riveting tale that explores the chilling intersections of past and present, life and death. As he writes, "We are trapped not only by our own history but by the histories of all those with whom we choose to share our lives." This beautifully rendered narrative promises to challenge even the most seasoned crime fiction fans.

Čtu si celou sérii soukromého detektiva Charlieho Parkera a baví mne. Jsou si podobné, ale vždy s něčím novým co překvapí ... kdo má tento druh žánru rád tak nebude zklamán. Všem hezký den.
