Kit struggles to cope with the upheaval of moving and the loss of his beloved grandfather. He encounters John and his group, who repeatedly attempt to enter a trance state to connect with peers who perished in the mines years ago. Apart from John, only Kit is able to achieve this state. This experience offers him a new perspective on life.
