In this book, first published in 1984, Paul Cohen examines the Catholic revival among the young French intelligentsia prior to the First World War. He explores this intellectual revival by studying that period’s "talas", the Catholic students at the elite Ecole Normale Supérieure, and devotes his attention to some of the highest-profile coverts, such as Charles Péguy and Jacques Maritain.
