Focusing on watershed development interventions in Rajasthan, this book explores the complex politics surrounding rural development initiatives since the 1990s. It highlights the involvement of various actors, including state departments, international donors, NGOs, and grassroots organizations, in these projects. Through multi-sited ethnography and interviews, the author analyzes the differing approaches of state and NGO-led initiatives, moving beyond traditional success or failure metrics to examine the competing interests and collaborative dynamics within the 'watershed development regime.'
