Set in Bombay during the mid-1990s, the story revolves around Nariman Vakeel, a seventy-nine-year-old Parsi widower and patriarch of a troubled family. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease and haunted by his past, he shares a once-elegant apartment with his two middle-aged stepchildren: the bitter and controlling Coomy, and the mild-mannered Jal. When Nariman’s condition worsens after a broken ankle, Coomy devises a plan to shift his care to Roxana, his kind-hearted sister. This transition, however, comes with its own challenges. Nariman moves in with Roxana, her husband Yezad, and their two young sons, which adds strain to Yezad, who is already grappling with financial issues. This leads him into a web of deception involving his eccentric employer, Vikram Kapur, setting off a chain of events that unravels the family's complex history.
