Richard Parkinson was a steam fireman based at the former Exmouth Junction steam depot on the outskirtd of Exeter. From here he worked passenger and freight trains on the main line to Salisbury. He faithfully recorded his trips in both words and pictures, capturing a snapshot in time that is now long-lost.
