The EU and China in African Authoritarian Regimes

The analysis focuses on the domestic politics of dominant party regimes in Africa, particularly how these governments navigate their survival strategies in relation to EU governance reform policies. The author challenges the belief that China's influence complicates the EU's efforts, suggesting that the EU's strategies align better with certain regimes' interests. By examining Angola, Ethiopia, and Rwanda, the study reveals that factors like economic dependence and governance strategies impact African governments' willingness to engage in reforms, independent of Chinese involvement.
