It details the origin of its inhabitants, the Trojans, and traces the arrival of Dardanus, a prince and son of Jupiter, who fled a flood in Samothrace. After marrying the daughter of the local king Teucer, he established the city of Dardania in the hills of Mount Ida and ultimately became the ruler of the region, naming it after himself.
