Examining the extensive influence of English on Japanese, this thesis traces the historical interactions between the two languages from early contact through pre-WWII, wartime, and contemporary periods. It highlights the role of English in various sectors such as ESL, business, and media. Additionally, the work analyzes loanwords in Japanese, exploring their functions and the cultural reasons behind their prevalent use, including the concept of wa-sei eigo, or "English made in Japan."
