The 1903 edition features vibrant illustrations and was dedicated to the author's youngest son. L. Frank Baum, known for his collaboration with Edith Ogden Harrison, faced challenges in bringing his works to the stage, notably with the canceled premiere of Prince Silverwings due to the Iroquois Theater Fire. After decades of being out of print, it was reissued in 1988.
