This anthology collects some of the best-known works of Bret Harte, a leading figure in the Western literary tradition. The title story, The Luck of Roaring Camp, tells the tale of a gold-mining camp and the baby who transforms its rough inhabitants. The collection also includes Harte's most famous poem, The Heathen Chinee, which satirizes anti-Chinese sentiment in California.
