Economics and Marketing Pattern of Banana cultivation in the state

Focusing on the production and marketing of banana in Wokha district, this research study from 2012-13 provides a detailed analysis of costs and challenges faced by farmers. It reveals that the total cost of production per hectare averages Rs 59,041.30, with variable costs dominating at 93.99%. The study highlights that costs increase with farm size, showing specific figures for marginal, small, and medium farmers. Additionally, the average yield stands at 121.52 quintals, generating a gross income of Rs 1,57,880.33, indicating the economic viability of banana farming in the region.
