The study investigates the potential of ultrasound technology in predicting the velocity of sound through cancellous bone, building on the historical development of medical imaging since the discovery of x-rays. It highlights the evolution of imaging techniques, particularly ultrasound's clinical applications over the past 40 years, initiated by early attempts to diagnose brain tumors. By employing a deconvolution method, the research aims to correlate calculated ultrasound transit times with those obtained from clinical ultrasound bone densitometers, enhancing diagnostic capabilities in biomedical engineering.
