The narrative follows a community of educators, parents, and students who transformed conventional educational norms by establishing an innovative school. Led by veteran teacher Nehring, the Bethlehem Lab School emerged from a 1988 proposal, facing numerous challenges while prioritizing performance-based assessments amidst a climate of standardized testing. The school fostered a collaborative, democratic culture with a focused curriculum and unique senior internship program. Despite initial skepticism, it gained support, attracted diverse students, and achieved notable success in college admissions.
