Focusing on the appropriation of various media forms by Mexican indigenous communities, this book explores how the Tamazulapam Mixe and their diaspora in Los Angeles navigate transnational migration and ethnopolitical movements. Through the creation and consumption of self-determined media, they establish new media spaces that challenge traditional narratives and promote equitable relationships. The Ayuujk people's diverse perspectives on development, modernity, gender, and indigenous identity are examined, reflecting their complex realities in the twenty-first century.
