The story follows Mary, a relief drama teacher, as she endeavors to inspire three disinterested teenage girls, Stacey, Kelly, and Maggie, to engage in dance despite numerous obstacles, including a science-focused headmaster and limited resources. A pivotal trip to London for a dance competition helps the girls build confidence, even though they don't secure a win. Additionally, Mary finds herself on the brink of a romantic connection with Stacey's father, Jimmy, adding another layer to the narrative.
