The transformation of the Longlake region's fishery from subsistence to a dynamic market economy is the central focus of this study. Through ethnographic fieldwork, it explores the development of key economic institutions such as property rights and markets, alongside evolving organizational structures within the fishery sector. The interplay between these institutions and their social, cultural, legal, and political contexts forms the core theme, highlighting the complexities of economic growth in this historically rich area known for its freshwater fisheries.
