This 60-acre park featured picnic areas, a dance pavilion, sports facilities, and a beach, making it a beloved summer getaway for Detroit residents. The Tashmoo steamer, launched in 1900, symbolized the height of leisure travel until its sinking in 1936 led to the park's decline.
