Optimization of Soy-Biodiesel Combustion in a Modern Diesel Engine

Focusing on the growing demand for alternative fuels, this study investigates the performance of biodiesel, particularly 100% soy-based biodiesel and its 20% and 5% blends. It addresses challenges such as higher fuel consumption and NOx emissions compared to conventional diesel, stemming from differences in fuel properties. The research aims to optimize engine performance by adjusting parameters like air-fuel ratio, exhaust gas recirculation, fuel rail pressure, and fuel injection timing across over 150 combinations at various operating locations.
