Focusing on resilience and community, the narrative explores the lives of young people who created a communal home in an abandoned glass factory in Manhattan's Lower East Side in 1993. The author, initially introduced to the community by a homeless man, gains access to their world through a series of meetings, where he documents their struggles and triumphs. Unlike previous works centered on adults, this book highlights the unique experiences of runaways and the ways they maintain their identity and sense of home amidst adversity.
