Comparative Federalism and Intergovernmental Agreements

Focusing on the comparative analysis of intergovernmental agreements, this study examines six federations: Australia, Canada, Germany, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United States. It investigates why some federations establish more agreements than others by utilizing an institutional framework that encompasses seven variables, such as constitutional powers and welfare state size. Additionally, it introduces the first comprehensive database of national intergovernmental agreements, serving as a valuable resource for future research in this area.
