Kathryn Starkey examines the interplay of text and imagery, illustrating how the poem evolved alongside its audience, transitioning from rural to urban elites. Notably, the 1340 Gotha redaction showcases a redesigned image cycle aimed at conveying courtly behavior, emphasizing its historical importance and contribution to elite identity formation.
