Exploring the impact of epistemological beliefs on learning, this book presents various studies focused on mathematics. It includes qualitative interviews and quantitative research utilizing a newly developed questionnaire that distinguishes between belief positions and argumentation. A mathematical critical thinking test is also introduced. Findings reveal a significant correlation between advanced belief argumentations and high critical thinking scores, while belief positions show no such correlation, highlighting the complexity of how beliefs influence learning in mathematics.
