Examining the representation of the white body in American cinema, this work utilizes various critical methodologies to analyze films from early cinema to contemporary works. It highlights how American cinema perpetuates whiteness as a cultural norm while revealing its contradictions. Through discussions of films like The Philadelphia Story and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, the author illustrates the potential for resistance against established norms of race, gender, sexuality, and class, showcasing the complexities of identity in film.
