Focusing on the possibility of a non-violent politics, the book argues that contemporary interdisciplinary dialogue among the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities can transform our understanding of violence. It highlights the distinction between aggression and violence and emphasizes the importance of new societal attitudes toward violence, which can lead to meaningful action. Advocating for an emotional Enlightenment reminiscent of the Enlightenment era, it proposes a redefined approach to politics and the State in the twenty-first century.
