Focusing on the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this study explores the social stratification among China's scientific elite and the impact of political interference on their standing. Through extensive data collection, the author analyzes how these dynamics differ from the US scientific elite, highlighting the contrasts between the democratic and authoritarian systems. The findings offer intriguing insights into the relationship between politics and science in two distinct national contexts.
