Exploring identity construction through linguistic practices, this book analyzes the Eurovision Song Contest as a unique cultural context. It employs a normativity-based approach to critical discourse analysis, examining how European, national, and sexual identities are represented in lyrics and performances. By shifting focus from traditional EU political contexts to the Eurovision framework, it highlights discursive mechanisms like de-essentialisation and inclusion that influence Europeanisation.
