Rising tensions between the US and China over the past decade raise critical questions about the future of their rivalry and the potential for conflict. This seminar paper evaluates various International Relations Theories (IRT) that shape perceptions of state interactions, highlighting the shortcomings of Western perspectives, such as realism, liberalism, and constructivism. It critiques these theories for their cultural biases and overly optimistic views, while also addressing the limitations of Chinese IRT, which is often seen as Sino-centric and anti-Western.
