Focusing on the challenges of flat slab design, this book addresses the critical issue of punching shear at slab-column connections and the impact of steel corrosion on concrete structures. It highlights the advantages of using fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars as an alternative to steel, which can reduce maintenance costs and enhance service life. Through comprehensive experimental testing and a detailed parametric study, the author proposes a new design model for FRP-reinforced two-way slabs, addressing the lack of existing design equations in current FRP codes.
