The study investigates how different root and shoot genotypes influence the productivity and physiology of loblolly pine seedlings under varying nutrient conditions. Using a split-plot design, twelve-week-old seedlings from diverse provenances were grafted to assess rootstock and scion effects. Key findings include a positive correlation between total biomass production and root biomass allocation, as well as variations in leaf stomatal conductance among provenances. The research offers valuable insights for tree biology, plant breeding, and physiology, particularly in water-limited environments.
