The book examines the impact of ethnic divisions on statebuilding in Bosnia-Herzegovina nearly two decades post-war, focusing on the role of political elites in shaping nationalism and identity. It analyzes presidential speeches from 2004 to 2012 to uncover how rhetoric reflects ethnic polarization or fosters a unified national identity. By employing theories of identity construction, nationalism, and ethnic conflict, the study reveals how language can either promote unity or exacerbate divisions among the three main ethnic groups in the country.
